Verify
My Tech

Criminals are ringing UK businesses pretending to be their IT provider — and cheap AI voice cloning has made those calls very convincing. So don't take our word for it. Generate a one-time code on this page and ask the person contacting you to read it back. Only the genuine Cloud53 engineer working your ticket can see it.

Get your
verification code

Enter your name below and we'll show you a one-time code. Then ask the person who contacted you to read that code back to you. If they can't, they don't work for Cloud53.

Keep this page open while you check. Your name is used only so the engineer can see who asked for the verification — nothing is installed on your device and no other details are collected.

What happens next

Make them prove
who they are

Your one-time code appears on screen
A freshly generated code, just for this contact. It is never emailed or texted to you, so there is nothing for an attacker to intercept.
The genuine engineer reads it back
Only the Cloud53 engineer handling your request can see that code inside our ServiceDesk. Ask them to say it out loud before you do anything else.
This page confirms it, live
Once the engineer confirms the check at their end, the page updates in real time to tell you the verification succeeded. No refreshing, no waiting around.
The check is logged to your ticket
Verification is recorded against the ticket in our ServiceDesk system with the method, time and outcome — useful evidence for your auditors, insurers and Cyber Essentials assessors.

Every Cloud53 engineer can be verified, every time, without exception. If someone claiming to be from Cloud53 talks you out of checking, that is your answer — end the contact and ring us on 0333 444 5353.

How it works

A 10-second check that
stops a six-figure incident

Technician verification is now built into the way our ServiceDesk works. It costs you nothing, it takes seconds, and it flips the usual dynamic — instead of you proving who you are to IT, we prove who we are to you.

01
Someone contacts you
A call, a Teams message, or an SMS from someone saying they're from Cloud53 — and they want remote access, an MFA approval, or a password change. Before you agree to anything, open this page.
Your move
02
You generate a one-time code
Go to cloud53.co.uk and open Verify My Tech on any device. Enter your name and a single-use code appears on your screen. No login, no app, nothing to install.
No friction
03
They read it back to you
The code lands with the real engineer inside our ServiceDesk system. If they read it back correctly, the page confirms the match live and you can carry on. If they can't, you have your answer.

Why we've rolled this out

Attackers have
started impersonating
IT support

Help-desk impersonation has become one of the most effective ways into a business. A confident caller claims to be your IT provider, manufactures urgency, and talks someone into approving an MFA prompt or starting a remote session. Nothing is hacked — a person is simply persuaded.

The UK's National Cyber Security Centre is clear that scam phone calls deserve the same suspicion as scam emails, and that you should verify a caller independently rather than trusting caller ID or a convincing manner. Verify My Tech gives your people a way to do exactly that in seconds, without needing to be a security expert or make an awkward judgement call.

Takes the judgement call away from your staff — it either verifies or it doesn't
Supports zero-trust access control and Cyber Essentials style assurance
Every check is written back to the ticket as an audit trail
Works for remote workers, site visits and out-of-hours callouts alike
IF THEY CAN'T READ THE CODE BACK

Treat it as an attack

A failed check isn't an inconvenience — it's a warning. Do these four things, in this order:

  1. Do not grant access. No remote session, no screen share, no MFA approval, no password reset, no payment details.
  2. End the contact. Hang up or close the chat. Never call back on a number they have given you.
  3. Ring us on a number you already trust — 0333 444 5353 — and tell us exactly what happened.
  4. Warn your colleagues. These campaigns work through a business one person at a time.

Common questions

Verify My Tech, answered

Does it cost me anything?
No. Verification is free and open to any Cloud53 client, their staff and their end users. There's nothing to buy, install or subscribe to.
Do I need to log in or create an account?
No. This page is deliberately public and login-free, so anyone — including a new starter on their first day — can use it under pressure without needing credentials they may not have to hand.
Who gives who the code?
You do. That's the whole point. This page generates a one-time code and shows it to you on screen; the genuine Cloud53 engineer sees the same code inside our ServiceDesk and reads it back to prove who they are. An impostor has no way of seeing it.
Why do I have to enter my name?
So the engineer can see who has asked for a check and match it to the right ticket. That's the only detail we ask for — we don't need your email address, your phone number, or anything about your systems.
How does it work behind the scenes?
Verification is built straight into the Cloud53 ServiceDesk system our engineers work in, using the same one-time code principle you'll already recognise from online banking and MFA prompts. Every check is issued against the live ticket and recorded with the method, timestamp and outcome.
What if the engineer doesn't know about this?
They will. Verification is standard practice for our whole team, and being asked to prove ourselves is never an inconvenience. Any genuine Cloud53 engineer will happily wait while you run the check.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes — it works in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or desktop. That matters, because the caller may be telling you there's a problem with your PC.
Does this replace our other security controls?
No — it complements them. Verification closes the human gap that MFA, EDR and email filtering can't, by proving the identity of the person asking for access. It sits alongside the rest of your Cloud53 security stack.
We're not a Cloud53 client — can we do this too?
You can, and you should be asking your current provider for something like it. If you'd rather work with an MSP that has already made verification standard, get in touch and we'll explain how we support businesses across Manchester and the UK.

Never take our word for it.
Make us prove it.

Share this page with your team. Next time anyone claims to be from Cloud53 and asks for access, there's a 10-second answer — and if the answer is no, we want to hear about it straight away.
